Bulk materials delivered across Belgrave

Belgrave sits under mountain ash on some of the best soil in the state. The Dandenongs were built by volcanic ash, and what it weathered into is a deep red-brown loam that gardeners elsewhere in Melbourne would pay a great deal for. The catch is everything else: the wettest conditions on our network, the narrowest roads, and blocks that fall away steeply on both sides of the road.

It is Zone 3 and a genuine mountain run, so rather than a next-morning promise we agree a delivery window with you when the order goes in. We are up the hill seven days a week.

Soil & site conditions

The red hill loam here is deep, friable and naturally fertile, and the usual advice about importing a growing medium simply does not apply — in most Belgrave gardens the existing soil is better than anything you would put on it. What it needs instead is protection. On a steep block that soil moves downhill the moment it is left bare, and the rainfall up here is high enough to do it quickly. A heavy coarse mulch laid thick over any disturbed ground, and terracing where the fall is severe, is where the money is better spent than on soil.

Truck access in Belgrave

Belgrave is the hardest access on the whole network and the one where a conversation before ordering saves the most. The roads are narrow, steep and winding with tree cover closing in overhead and effectively no verge to pull onto. Private drives are frequently steeper again, often unsealed, and turning space is rare — a loaded tipper that goes in without a way to turn is a serious problem. Expect the load at the top of the drive or at the nearest safe standing point, and tell us honestly what the approach looks like.

Belgrave delivery questions

What access does your truck need?
Our tip truck needs roughly 3.5 m of clear width, firm ground to reverse on and no low branches or wires over the drop point. If the street or driveway is tighter than that, tell us when you order and we will work out the closest safe spot — usually the nature strip or the top of the driveway.
How soon can you deliver?
Orders placed before 3pm are usually delivered the next day, seven days a week — including a Saturday order delivered Sunday. After 3pm, allow two days. Longer regional runs are booked with a confirmed window rather than a next-day promise.
How much fits in one delivery?
One truck load carries up to 8 cubic metres of a single material. Two different materials always travel as two loads, because they cannot share a tray — so a cart with soil and mulch in it is priced as two deliveries.
