Bulk materials delivered across Sunbury

Sunbury sits in the Jacksons Creek valley with a green wedge between it and the rest of Melbourne, and it gardens like a country town rather than a suburb. It is higher, colder and windier than anywhere else on our northern run, and the ground has rock in it. Both facts change what is worth ordering.

It is still Zone 1, so the rate is the same as a delivery three streets from the CBD. We run Sunbury seven days a week, and an order placed before 3pm is usually delivered the next day.

Soil & site conditions

The valley is volcanic country and the basalt is close to the surface — a shallow stony clay loam that hits rock sooner than people expect, with better-drained gravelly ground on the rises and heavier clay in the low parts near the creek. Frost settles in the valley on winter mornings and the wind strips moisture the rest of the year, so a deep mulch layer is doing two jobs here rather than one. Build beds up with imported mix instead of trying to dig into rock, and use crushed rock where a surface has to survive a wet, cold winter.

Truck access in Sunbury

The estates on the flat are simple — wide streets, standard driveways, room to tip. The older parts of town falling toward Jacksons Creek are steeper and narrower, and on a driveway that drops sharply from the kerb we will tip at the top rather than take a loaded truck down. On the semi-rural blocks around the edges the drives are long and often unsealed; let us know whether the surface holds a truck and where there is room to turn, and if it is marginal we will tip at the gate.

Sunbury delivery questions

What access does your truck need?
Our tip truck needs roughly 3.5 m of clear width, firm ground to reverse on and no low branches or wires over the drop point. If the street or driveway is tighter than that, tell us when you order and we will work out the closest safe spot — usually the nature strip or the top of the driveway.
How soon can you deliver?
Orders placed before 3pm are usually delivered the next day, seven days a week — including a Saturday order delivered Sunday. After 3pm, allow two days. Longer regional runs are booked with a confirmed window rather than a next-day promise.
How much fits in one delivery?
One truck load carries up to 8 cubic metres of a single material. Two different materials always travel as two loads, because they cannot share a tray — so a cart with soil and mulch in it is priced as two deliveries.
