Where We Deliver: Our Melbourne Delivery Zones Explained
We deliver soil, mulch, sand and aggregates to 292 postcodes across Victoria — from the Melbourne CBD out to Geelong, the Yarra Valley and the Peninsula. Here's how our three delivery zones...
One of the first things people want to know before they order a few cubic metres of soil or mulch is a simple one: do you actually come out to my place, and what will it cost to get it there? We deliver from our yard in Altona to 292 postcodes across Victoria — a bit over 770 suburbs — and the pricing is deliberately simple. Here's how it works.
The Three Delivery Zones
Every postcode we deliver to sits in one of three zones. The zone sets the price per truck load. There's no distance calculation and no fuel surcharge — just your postcode and a flat rate.
| Zone | What it covers | Per load |
|---|---|---|
|
Zone 1 — Metro Melbourne 173 postcodes |
The CBD and inner suburbs out to Melton and Sunbury in the west, Craigieburn and South Morang in the north, Mitcham and Glen Waverley in the east, and Frankston, Narre Warren and Cranbourne in the south-east. | $70 |
|
Zone 2 — Outer Ring 36 postcodes |
The ring just beyond the metro edge: Diamond Creek and Hurstbridge, Warrandyte and Park Orchards, Ringwood and Croydon, the Dandenong foothills from Bayswater to Rowville, Berwick and Officer, Whittlesea and Beveridge, Bacchus Marsh and Gisborne, the Lara corridor, and Mount Eliza and Mornington. | $80 |
|
Zone 3 — Regional Victoria 83 postcodes |
The long runs: Geelong and the Bellarine, the lower Yarra Valley from Chirnside Park to Yarra Glen, the Dandenong Ranges, the Macedon Ranges and the Kilmore–Wallan corridor, the Mornington Peninsula, Phillip Island and the Bass Coast. | $95 |
Rates are current at the time of writing. Whatever the case, checkout works out the exact delivery figure for your address before you pay, so there are no surprises after the order goes through.
Check Your Own Suburb
Rather than reading down a list of 770 suburbs, head to our Delivery areas page. Type in your suburb or postcode and it will tell you which zone you're in and what a load costs to get there. If nothing comes up, you're outside the standard zones — see the last section below.
How Delivery Is Charged
The zone rate is charged per truck load, not per order. One load carries up to 8 cubic metres of a single material. Two different materials always travel as two loads, because they can't share a tray — so a cart with soil and mulch in it is priced as two deliveries, even if the combined volume would fit in one truck.
A few examples, using the Zone 1 rate of $70:
- 6m³ of garden soil — one load, $70.
- 6m³ of garden soil plus 2m³ of mulch — two loads, $140. Different materials, separate tips.
- 12m³ of crushed rock — two loads, $140. Same material, but over the 8m³ cap.
If you're not sure how much material your project actually needs, our guide on how much soil or mulch to order walks through the maths — and it's worth doing before you check out, since ordering 9m³ instead of 8m³ doubles the delivery cost.
When Your Order Arrives
We deliver Monday to Saturday — never Sundays. Orders placed before 3pm can usually be on the truck the next business day, depending on your zone and how busy the runs are. After 3pm the earliest is generally two business days out. Longer regional runs in Zone 3 are booked with a confirmed window rather than a next-day promise, so we'll be in touch to lock in a time that suits.
In most cases you don't need to be home. Just nominate a safe drop zone when you order and the driver will place the material there.
What the Truck Needs at Your End
Our tip truck needs roughly 3.5m of clear width, firm ground to reverse on, and no low branches or wires over the drop point. If your street or driveway is tighter than that, tell us when you order and we'll work out the closest safe spot — usually the nature strip or the top of the driveway.
It also helps to have the drop point cleared before we arrive. A few minutes moving the trailer or the bins saves the driver working around them, and it means the pile lands where you actually want it rather than where the truck could reach.
Outside the Zones?
If your postcode isn't in one of the three zones, we can often still help — it just needs a quote rather than an automatic rate. Send us your address and what you're after through the Contact page, or call us on 1300 21 21 11, and we'll come back with a price.
