Bulk materials delivered across Ocean Grove

Ocean Grove has grown from a holiday town into a full-time one, and the estates on its northern edge are still going. What has not changed is the ground underneath: deep coastal sand that water runs straight through, and a salt wind off Bass Strait that punishes anything soft on an exposed frontage.

The Bellarine is Zone 3 for us, a genuine run rather than a suburban drop. We deliver seven days a week and confirm a delivery window when the order is placed rather than promising a next-morning drop — worth knowing in January, when the town's population and its traffic roughly double.

Soil & site conditions

This is sand over limestone, sometimes with a thin darker layer on top and often not even that. It drains within minutes, holds very little nutrient, and turns a normal watering routine into a losing argument. Bulk organic matter is the whole answer: a good garden mix worked through the bed and a solid depth of mulch over it will change the way a garden behaves more than any fertiliser. Pebble and toppings hold their place on an exposed path where bark simply blows away, and on the seaward frontages a coarse mulch will outlast a fine one by a season. In the newer estates north of the town the sand is often buried under compacted builder's fill, which drains no better and grows nothing — that ground needs importing over, not improving.

Truck access in Ocean Grove

The newer estates are easy: wide roads, generous driveways, room to tip. The older streets behind the beach are narrower, and in summer they are parked out from morning to evening — a weekday delivery outside the holiday period is a much simpler job. The sand itself is the other consideration: an unsealed verge that looks firm can give way under a loaded truck, so we will look for the driveway apron or the road rather than driving onto soft ground.

Ocean Grove delivery questions

What access does your truck need?
Our tip truck needs roughly 3.5 m of clear width, firm ground to reverse on and no low branches or wires over the drop point. If the street or driveway is tighter than that, tell us when you order and we will work out the closest safe spot — usually the nature strip or the top of the driveway.
How soon can you deliver?
Orders placed before 3pm are usually delivered the next day, seven days a week — including a Saturday order delivered Sunday. After 3pm, allow two days. Longer regional runs are booked with a confirmed window rather than a next-day promise.
How much fits in one delivery?
One truck load carries up to 8 cubic metres of a single material. Two different materials always travel as two loads, because they cannot share a tray — so a cart with soil and mulch in it is priced as two deliveries.
